Nortrak is delighted to announce that we will be exhibiting at the National Safer Roads Conference on 23rd and 24th September 2026 at the Radisson Blu, Manchester Airport, where we will be showcasing our latest connected technology innovation – Sign-Bot
The sign becomes the witness
Developed by Nortrak in close collaboration with Road Safety Support, Sign-Bot was created to solve a very real challenge surrounding temporary roadwork speed enforcement.
Demonstrating that temporary speed limit signs were correctly positioned and operational at a particular point in time can require physical inspections, record keeping, witness statements and, potentially, personnel attending court to provide evidence.
Behind every prosecution there can also be considerable coordination between enforcement teams, police, prosecution teams, court staff and witnesses.
We believed connected technology could provide a better way.
Introducing Sign-Bot
Sign-Bot is an intelligent, autonomous monitoring device fitted directly to temporary road signs.
Once deployed, it continuously monitors and records the location, orientation and status of the sign, creating a secure, timestamped digital audit trail.
If a sign is moved, struck, interfered with or falls over, Sign-Bot can immediately alert the relevant stakeholders.

This provides something extremely valuable: evidence on demand.
Instead of relying on repeated physical inspections and people subsequently having to confirm where a sign was positioned, Sign-Bot creates an independent digital record automatically.
The potential benefits include:
Stronger evidence. Fewer site inspections. Reduced administration. Fewer unnecessary court appearances. Improved workforce safety.
And, importantly, greater confidence in the evidential chain supporting enforcement and successful prosecutions.
Technology developed around a real-world problem
Sign-Bot is also an excellent example of Nortrak’s approach to product development.
Rather than developing technology and then looking for a problem it can solve, we worked closely with the road safety specialists at Road Safety Support to understand the operational and evidential challenges experienced in the real world.
Nortrak then applied our expertise in IoT, GPS, sensors, autonomous devices and cloud-connected technology to develop a practical solution.
The result is Sign-Bot.
Come and see Sign-Bot in Manchester
If you are attending the National Safer Roads Conference on 23rd–24th September, come and meet the Nortrak team and see Sign-Bot for yourself.
We would particularly welcome conversations with Safer Roads Partnerships, police forces, highway authorities, enforcement professionals and others involved in temporary roadwork speed enforcement.
Come and discover how connected technology can reduce workload, strengthen evidence and help make our roads safer.
